| Michael Jeffrey Shapiro étudia à la Juilliard School, le Columbia College et le Mannes School. Il étudia la composition avec Vincent Persichetti et Elie Siegmeister et la direction d’orchestre avec Carl Bamberger. Il travaille comme pianiste-accompagnateur et dirige ses propres œuvres.
